Shore Excursion Mgr./Tour Manager Overview:
- The shore excursion manager or
tour manager is primarily responsible for the presentation, promotion, supervision and
arrangement of the shore excursions offered in the various port-of-call by the company.
Usually acts independently of other departments on the ship because it coordinates with
people off of the ship.
- Presents shore excursion talks
and/or slide presentation.
- Updating of all shore
excursion forms.
- Effective communications with
port officials.
- Written and financial reports
weekly presented to the cruise director and hotel manager.
- Participates in activities,
escorts tours and other various duties as directed by the cruise director.
- Highly visible and accessible
to passengers (socialize!)
- Assist in lifeboat drills as
instructed.
- Reports directly to the Cruise
Director or hotel manager.
Requirements:
- Experience in tourism,
previous travel-related experience such as a land tour director essential and/or minimum 1
year on board starting from an entry-level cruise staff or assistant shore excursion
manager position.
- Public speaking.
- Strong personality and social
skills required.
- Knowledge of foreign languages
is preferred but not essential.
Salary Range &
Contract Length:
- $2,000-3,000 per month plus
the possibility of a percentage of shore excursion sales revenue.
- 4-6 months on board/4 weeks
vacation.
